his life was totally in danger.
True story; this officer (John Pike) got a settlement of $38,000 because he said he got depressed after pepper spraying these kids. Oh, the depression wasn’t for feeling remorseful for pepper spraying a bunch of college kids peacefully protesting. He got depressed because he said since the media kept playing the video of him pepper spraying peaceful kids without cause, he got threats and didn’t feel safe. He didn’t feel safe. I’m not making that up. This motherfucker collected nearly 40 grand on worker’s comp after assaulting a bunch of college kids.
First of all, that first statement is an overgeneralization. Not every Chinese person is going to be skilled at math of course. It’s ignorant to go into these stereotypes.
But try this:
Read them out loud to yourself. Now look away, and spend twenty seconds memorizing that sequence before saying them out loud again.
If you speak English, you have about a 50 percent chance of remembering that sequence perfectly If you’re Chinese, though, you’re almost certain to get it right every time.
Why is this?
One explanation is because the Chinese language allows them to read numbers faster.
Chinese number words are remarkably brief. Most of them can be said in less than 1/4th of a second (for instance, 4 is ‘si’ and 7 ‘qi’)
Their English equivalents—”four,” “seven”—are longer: pronouncing them takes about 1/3 of a second.
The English number system is also VERY illogical.
For example, right after the word 10, instead of saying one-ten, two-ten, three-ten we have different words like 11,12.
Not so in China, Japan and Korea. They have a logical counting system. Eleven is ten one. Twelve is ten two. Twenty-four is two ten four, and so on.
That difference means that Asian children learn to count much faster. Four year old Chinese children can count, on average, up to forty. American children, at that age, can only count to fifteen, and don’t reach forty until they’re 5 years old.
The regularity of their number systems also means that Asian children can perform basic functions—like addition—far more easily.
Ask an English seven-year-old to add thirty-seven plus twenty two, in her head, and she has to convert the words to numbers (37 + 22).
Ask an Asian child to add three-tens-seven and two tens-two, and no translation is necessary.

Huh. That’s really interesting!
This makes so much more sense than the racist bullshit people come up with.
this applied to Thai language as well.
You should listen how Asian children recite the times table.
See this shit? This shit is about to change your life.
This packet of stuff is called Instamorph Moldable Plastic. You literally buy a packet of this shit, and you can make any-fucking-thing.
You open it up, and you get little plastic pellets that look like this.
Doesn’t look like much, right?
When put in hot water (140°F, 60°C.), these pellets melt into a kind of putty-like stuff, that you can mold into whatever shape you want.
They make the coolest cosplay accessories EVER because they’re plastic - they’re moderately lightweight, they’ll survive being dropped and banged around, and they’re waterproof. I made Nepeta horns and Meenah bracelets for my homestuck cosplays, but it can do a ton of other stuff too.
Also, the whole project takes maybe a half hour - 10 minutes to boil the water, 2 for the pellets to melt in the bowl (it leaves no residue, so you can use a regular mixing bowl and a spoon to pull it out of the water), a few minutes to sculpt and then a few minutes for it to dry into a completely solid, plastic whatever-you’re-making.
AND THE BEST PART OF THIS IS THAT THIS SHIT IS SO CHEAP
YOU’D EXPECT IT TO BE REALLY EXPENSIVE BUT IT’S NOT
I got a container on Amazon.com for $10, but here’s the actual site so you can check it out some more. http://www.instamorph.com/
